Christy Chor is a Canadian ceramic artist who creates a body of narrative-driven sculptural work exploring the sensory dialogue between humanity and the natural world. Her master theme, BACK TO NATURE, unfolds through successive series including Bird, Bear, and her current Mountain works, serving as tactile meditations on wonder, imbalance, and rebirth. An internationally recognized and award-winning artist, Christy's practice merges cross-cultural perspectives, uniting her ceramics education from Sheridan College in Canada with professional experience in Asia's design industry. Through this unique lens, she creates sculptures that are both communicative and masterfully composed.

My journey began with a solid foundation in wheel-throwing and mastery of classical vessel-making. While this discipline remains a core part of my language, my approach has fundamentally evolved. I am not bound to any fixed techniques; instead, the story I need to tell guides me to the right ones.

I now work in series, where each series develops a concept like a chapter in a storybook, collectively building the larger narrative of my central theme: 'Back to Nature.' This is a philosophical return to essence, expressed through the primal language of clay.

My focus is on translating rich life experiences into sculptural ceramic forms and immersive installations. I see these works as "human adventures," capturing moments of ups and downs, resilience, and quiet discovery. Often, I incorporate small creatures as curious companions and silent storytellers on these adventures. My mission is to build contemplative environments that bridge the intimate world within us—our memories and emotions—with the vast, natural world beyond.
