Dominique Loukidis

My name is Dominique Loukidis. I was born and raised in France, where I then worked in administrative and commercial roles for nearly twenty years. I now live in Switzerland, where I have redirected my career towards interior design and collage art. Initially holding a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Management (ISTEC - Paris, France), I ultimately chose to pursue a more artistic career, also obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Applied Arts (Design et Formations - Nyon, Switzerland).

My work as an interior designer allows me to lead client projects where functionality and aesthetics are inextricably linked, within a holistic and creative approach. It was through the mood board, a tool dear to designers (also known as a mood board, when applied to interior design), that my passion for collage was born. Indeed, it was through manual photomontage that I was able to appreciate the transformative potential of images when assembled to form a new, imaginary world, thanks to free and powerful compositions. This process is also liberating for creativity: each collected image loses its original identity to tell a new story when combined with others.

Encouraged by those around me to exhibit my first paintings, I was fortunate enough to quickly gain access to online galleries and marketplaces (Swiss Artists, Art Majeur, Art Boxy, Circle Foundation for the Arts, and more recently Singulart), as well as to participate in exhibitions in Switzerland and other countries (Swiss Art Expo in Zurich, 2023, 2024, and 2025 editions, Venice, Bologna, Lecce, New York). In 2022, I also created my website, with the aim of showcasing my paintings, explaining my artistic world and approach, and reaching a wider audience.

Over time, I have come to understand that art should be accessible to all, because whatever its means of expression (painting, drawing, sculpture, music etc.), it is first and foremost a matter of sensitivity: that of the artist, on the one hand, who shows his vision of things using his own "vocabulary", and that of the public, on the other hand, who can simply be touched by this vision, sometimes far from codes and academies.

In this sense, artistic collage allows me to capture the aesthetics of an image, to blend it into a different concept and obtain surreal combinations, but also to guide the viewer into dreamlike, surprising, unexpected atmospheres in which humor also finds its place.

My compositions are generally intended to be lighthearted, playing with the viewer's perception while inviting reflection. The anachronisms, often present in my work, contribute to this lightness and serve the concept. Because the absurd dimension, beyond the aesthetic pursuit, is an essential component that I particularly like to highlight (drawing on and inspired by the Surrealist and Dada movements).

All artistic approaches seem interesting to me, and I consider them primarily from an emotional perspective, through the stories they tell me. My "book of influences" is therefore very eclectic. And every exhibition I visit or art book I open is a potential source of inspiration.
