Jessica Patterson also represented as The Frequent Artist is a painter/illustrator/graphic designer that currently resides in Louisiana. Her artistic beginnings started at a young age with drawing but at the age of sixteen she started painting with a vivid passion to expand her creative abilities. Being self-taught enabled her to learn at a steady pace and often persuaded her towards professional pursuits.

Not until more recent timing had Jessica started to participate in more professional work and coverage with her art featured internationally. Some notable features include publications with Destig magazine, Art International Contemporary Magazine, and Contemporary Art Curator Magazine. Several awards for her contributions in art such as Artist of the Year/Top 100 Artist of 2020 [Destig Magazine]; Ambassadors Of The Arts [June 2021-International Prize]; and Art Olympic Prize [December 2021-International Prize]. A few exhibitions include 1st International Biennial of Art in the World in Palermo, Italy at the Effetto Arte Gallery [September 2021].

Recently Jessica released her first book in August of 2023 titled "The Artistic Letters”, which is a collection of her work in the span of 20 years and is available on Amazon. Currently she is working on the ongoing digital magazine released monthly titled "P.M.(Painter’s Mark)” exclusively on her website. As the ideas grow so do the concepts.

The simple concept of movement inspires newer work consistently, often with my paintbrush in hand and a color filled palette I work to form a story vivid from a memory/dreamscape. I believe in utilizing every inch of the canvas and not restricting the size of the idea(s) with pencil marks often inhabiting the canvas to gain a clear perspective of framing. Color does become a center point in planning a piece frequently with a title or subject in my perspective. If the color is too blinding a minimalist view is a clearer option lately.

Gazing at an empty canvas my mind goes into a frenzy of conclusions and beginnings. I’m compelled to paint with no real apprehension of the work sitting before me. I start my creative sessions with a doodle from a sketchbook lying around my studio and the remainder of the day present, meaning noon to evening. Time escapes me with the smell of paint and sounds of a frantic paintbrush on a cotton primed canvas.

What has changed is pacing. Longer days and hours filled with more motivation to create the next best thing. I’m a storyteller that has a viewpoint from many angles, so restriction doesn’t limit potential but inspires me to center the idea into a broader mindset. I will always create ways to tell a more coherent story while the color directs a clearer view often with finer details. Lines shape to form patterns which construct a structure rich in symmetry and often concludes my creative sessions with a smile and tired eyes. What time should I start again tomorrow?
