Judit L. Nagy - LNJ: From civil engineer to artist

Judit L. Nagy (1971) comes from Búcs/Búč near Komárom/Komárno, a village with a Hungarian minority in southern Slovakia (Slovak Republic), in the heart of Europe. Her passion for art was evident from an early age, and her fascination with the visual arts led her to attend public art schools and private studios during her secondary school and university years. There she was able to develop her craft skills alongside her studies and although her heart was set on a life as an artist, she chose a different path under the banner of common sense. Judit completed her Masters in Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Subotica, Serbia, started a family in Slovakia and even entered the world of small business.

But fate always tends to close this particular arc of life: What is meant to be, must happen.

If you leaf through the artist's life story, you come across a fateful moment: on her 40th birthday, she set off on a pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Judith was deeply moved by the 800-kilometre walk and all the impressions it brought. It was here, on the winding paths and in the moments that touched her soul, that she found the courage to rekindle the fire in her heart and bring the muse of art back into her life.

Judit now lives in Switzerland, where she has successfully developed her own artistic method. Her unique mixed media technique, inspired by her experiences on the Camino in 2011, is known as 'IVVArt - In Vino Veritas Art Method ©' (Portraying real wine(s), WINEporTRAIT-s). Her innovative spirit is evident in her use of unconventional, often organic materials such as wine, earth and Swiss bio-resonance gouache or acrylics.

Judit's personal journey - her Camino - from Komárom/Komárno in southern Slovakia to Freienstein in Switzerland - from civil engineer-entrepreneur to artistic liberation is a testimony to the transformative power of passion, faith, perseverance and authenticity. Painting is also a deeply personal and intimate journey for her, where each authentic stroke and layer is the visual narrative of a new story from within.

The series of paintings entitled "CORPUS HERMETICUM (Another way)" is an invitation to touch "other worlds" as Judit sees them. The descriptions of the mixed media paintings are intended to involve the reader in the fascinatingly complex, cyclical process of creation. Judit L. Nagy describes both her method and her use of materials in an unvarnished way a bit like a recipe book - and in the end the reader senses that Judit L. Nagy is not only a painter, but also a storyteller, a narrator and a catalyst for (self-)change.

I am an author of an philosophical art book "CORPUS HERMETICUM (Another Way)" a co-creator of the art series of 7 "SHAKANA" and co-creator of 3 plastics to the them PRIDE.

Through a series of 21 expressively symbolic paintings, Judit inspires us to follow our own unique path, to face our inner truths and to strive to become a better, more authentic version of ourselves. Let us shine our own light into the world, for what greater and more important gift can we give ourselves and others?

„Don't be pushed around by the fears in your mind. Be led by the dreams in your heart. - Roy T. Bennett: Light in the Heart

My favourite medium is acrylic paints and in parallel my curiosity has led me to become a mixed media painter. I use real wine and soil from vineyards to paint WINEporTRAIT-s with a unique IVVArt method © I developed, or firewater (brandy, gin,...) and spices from distilleries to create a visual story of a gin, a raspberry brandy or as a tribute to citrus fruits - spirits made from oranges, lemons, mandarins and grapefruits. This kind of work falls under the category of "art of the spirit - spirit of art - art is spirit". I love to create recycled (up-cycled) art (2D & 3D) as well, which I call ReMixArt, and I continue to take digital photos of nature, focusing mainly on my beloved DANdeLION-s and light-shadow effects.
