Spanish artist, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master in Pedagogy, first phase of PhD studies. The inner tension of the heart is carved into the broke of the two-dimensionality of the painting: the essence of the friction of the soul with the world and oneself. Lately, Arturo is partially abandoning figurative work and beginning to experiment with bas-reliefs, asemblys, and digital media.
Arturo Javier Reyes Medina is a Spanish artist from Granada (Andalusia) who currently lives and works in Almeria (Spain). He is eclectic multi-disciplinary artist working simultaneously expressing himself in figurative and abstractive works, in different media: painting, sculpture, photography, digital and video art.
He is a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialized in plastic arts: painting branch by the University of Granada. He continued his education in the Netherlands being the scholar of Erasmus Hogeschool Rotterdam Omstreken, Erasmus University Rotterdam and on the Faculty of Arts: Academie voor Beeldemde Vorming, Catholic University of Tilburg. He made a master in Pedagogy and the first phase of PhD studies (Teaching Period) at the University of Granada.
Picasso said, "Everyone tries to explain art, and I ask myself, why not try to explain birdsong?" The work emerges from the subconscious and expresses the impossible to create with words. The inner tension of the heart is captured in the rupture of the two-dimensionality of the work: the essence of the soul's contact with the world and with itself. A few years ago, he partially abandoned figuration and began experimenting with abstraction with painted assemblages of materials found in nature. He simultaneously works with digital images and video.
While he uses various materials and processes in each project, his methodology is consistent. Although there are not always similarities between the different projects, they are linked by recurring formal concerns and subject matter. The concept of each work determines the materials and working methods.
Each project typically consists of several works, often in various media, grouped around specific themes and meanings. During research and production, new areas of interest emerge that lead to the next body of work in a continuous and insatiable search for a unique and personal language.
