Photography has been with me since my school days. Back then, I attended a course in analogue photography. I really enjoyed taking pictures and developing them in the darkroom. As a flight attendant, I then spent years taking the typical snapshots and holiday photos.

2015 was the turning point for me as a photographer. By chance, I discovered a course entitled ‘ZEN photo art - creating the void’ by Jo Fahl. I was so mesmerised by the course description that I immediately signed up on impulse. After this course, I knew I was hooked on photography.

Back at home, I was looking for a way to immerse myself more deeply and thoroughly in the subject of photography in order to learn the craft properly. So I enrolled on the part-time photography and image processing course at the European Photo Academy in Raststatt with Matthias Gessler. After successfully completing the part-time programme, I had the opportunity to stay at the academy and switch to the project workshop. I really appreciated the mixture of online seminars and on-site meetings as well as the project-based photography.

Over the years, the styles that I wanted to focus on crystallised more and more. These are the quiet, still images of macro and ZEN photography.

For me, macro photography is about showing everyday things in their beauty and from an unusual angle. I like these pictures in colour or in black and white.

For me, ZEN photography is much more than just taking pictures. For me, it is an attitude to life, a surrender to something and a meditative process. This unintentional, empty state, being in the here and now, allowing myself to be touched and pressing the shutter release on impulse, fascinates me time and again.

My ZEN pictures, often in black and white, show a lot of emptiness and allow us to break out of our hectic everyday lives and come to rest.

About 2 years ago, when I didn't know anything about ICM (Intentional Camera Movement or gestural photography), I said to myself on impulse ‘I want to photograph the way Claude Monet painted’. The painting style and technique of the English painter J.M.W. Turner (Romanticism) and the Impressionists, especially the works of Claude Monet, have always inspired me. The playfulness of light and colour, the suggestion of forms and the shadowy always enchant me anew.

Once again, chance played a major role and the world of ICM photography opened up to me.
And there it was, the opportunity to paint with the camera. My heart was opened and I was immediately hooked on this technique. I call it heart photography.

In this way, I can capture and depict a feeling that I perceive and feel in a certain situation much more clearly. It is no longer primarily about a concrete image statement but about feelings and emotions, about the soul or the essence of an object or a place.

This type of photography creates images that show a dreamy, sometimes magical perspective on the world and its events.

In August 2022, a photographer friend of mine encouraged me to show my pictures and make myself visible. The first business cards were printed in January 2023 and the website was launched in March 2023. Since then, I have been continuously applying to various competitions and/or exhibitions. I have also been actively approached for exhibitions.

With my pictures, some of which are more reminiscent of old master paintings, I want to enchant people, give them the opportunity to escape reality for a moment and let their imagination run wild. Not just to consume the picture, but to sink into it, to pause and be.

Initially, I thought that historical cities such as Venice, Rome or Paris were predestined for ICM photography; this feeling of ‘eternity’ of these places is supported. I now realise that urban environments and people are also suitable for ICM photography.

I now photograph almost exclusively in ICM. I demand of myself that the perfect image is already created in the camera. Apart from an ND filter, I don't use any other aids, special programmes in the camera or special effects in an image processing programme. Minimal image processing takes place if necessary.
