British, born in Poland on the 3rd of March. Living in Kent, United Kingdom.

Member of: VAA, IAVA and PAA.

I travelled through dry oceans, walked a thousand miles through dark forests, traumatized a hundred times, seen blood dripping from wounded minds, years of alcoholism, died to come back to life again.

That brought me to realize I am free, free, free of concepts, free of rules, of beliefs religious or otherwise, free of should' and shouldn't' free of all. I am free to express my feelings, emotions and/or energy within and around me through painting. I am free to be my true self without trying to fit in.

Marek Borkowski’s abstract expression paintings emerge from unfiltered dialogue between inner turmoil and liberated energy. Born in Poland and now rooted in the UK, Marek wields acrylic – often diluted and entwined with unconventional materials like plaster, ground coffee, or fine gravel – no brushes, but knives, metal tools, hands and pure instinct, allow raw emotions to guide every mark.

His canvases are battlegrounds of consciousness: spontaneous eruptions of energy that materialize without preconception – no sketches, titles, or themes. Only after the visceral act of creation do titles surface, if at all. This artistic shedding mirrors Marek’s personal odyssey – traversing trauma, addiction and rebirth – and resonates to freedom and social conditioning. As he poignantly shares:

Stop, question all your believes live now, and let yesterday be yesterday, but tomorrow my never come.

Each painting serves as a therapeutic catalyst – a trance like healing ritual where even the artist’s persona recedes. The mind overflows onto the canvas, both confronting and dissolving internal demons. The work exists in a liminal space – untitled, unedited and fiercely alive – inviting viewers to experience their own emotional resonance without the crutch of interpretation.

Marek’s creative approach transcends method; it is life in motion. His process – choosing colours drawn by intuition, layering texture with abandon, glazing to preserve – embodies purity of expression. He refuses trends, labels, and external validation, seeking instead authentic communion through paint.

In exhibition, these vibrant, pulsating canvases confront the viewer with unbound energy – offering a mirror to question personal beliefs and the facade of conformity. His recent solo shows, praised not for sale but for immersive scale, allowing audiences to witness the full breadth of his emotional landscape.

In sum, Borkowski’s oeuvre is tangible echo of an unfiltered soul. It challenges you to stop escaping, face your own resonance, and embrace the freedom that lies beyond life’s-imposed constructs.
