Adam Mielu Pakurar

Adam Mielu Pakurar, also known as MIELU, is an Austrian contemporary artist born in 1962 in Serbia, of Romanian roots. Since 1991 he has been living and working in Salzburg, Austria, where he has developed a distinctive artistic language that bridges tradition and contemporary expression.

Pakurar completed his artistic education in Belgrade, where he specialized in restoration, scenography, and sculpture. This multidisciplinary background strongly influences his approach, allowing him to work confidently across painting, mixed media, collage, sculpture, and installation.

His artistic practice is characterized by vibrant colors, expressive forms, and a powerful fusion of abstraction, Pop Art, and symbolic figurative elements. Love, life, activism, and human connection are central themes in his work. For Pakurar, art represents a universal language and a spiritual bridge between people, cultures, and generations.

Over the years, Adam Mielu Pakurar has exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, and art fairs across Europe and the United States. His works have been shown in cities such as Salzburg, Vienna, Venice, Milan, Baden-Baden, Dubai, New York, Las Vegas, and Miami. Notable participations include the International Biennale Artists Exhibition Miami, Art Expo Miami, the Metropolitan Gallery Art Museum in Las Vegas, the Museum of the Americas (Doral, Florida), and numerous European art fairs.

His artworks are part of private collections and museum collections, including the Würth Museum. He has received several awards and acknowledgments, including a Parchment of Participation from ARTUNIVERSAL – the Great Encyclopedia of International Art, signed by Sandro Serradifalco in Palermo, as well as a letter of recognition from the former Mayor of Salzburg for his artistic contribution.

Beyond exhibitions, Pakurar is known for his performative art projects, such as Broken Art, in which he destroyed selected works created during the pandemic as a symbolic act of transformation, accompanied by music and live performance. Through such actions, he emphasizes renewal, courage, and the continuous evolution of artistic identity.

Today, Adam Mielu Pakurar leads his studio Art by Mielu in Salzburg, where he continues to create and exhibit new bodies of work, staying committed to the idea that art is a force of universal love and a connection between all people.

My art is a reflection of life, love, and the deep human need for connection. I create from the belief that art is a universal language—one that transcends borders, cultures, and time. Through color, form, and gesture, I seek to communicate emotions that words cannot express.

Born in Serbia with Romanian roots and living in Austria for many years, my artistic identity is shaped by multiple cultures. This diversity has allowed me to develop an abstract and expressive visual language that blends elements of Pop Art, symbolism, and contemporary abstraction.

Activism is an essential part of my creative process. I see art as a living force—an act of resistance against indifference and a call for awareness, empathy, and change. Love stands at the center of my work: love for humanity, for freedom, and for the fragile beauty of existence.

I work with strong, vibrant colors and mixed techniques because energy and movement are fundamental to my vision. Each artwork becomes a space where chaos and harmony coexist, where destruction can lead to renewal, and where imperfection reveals truth.

For me, art connects all people in the world. The ridge is the target; the world is only a point— a small box inside a bigger box. Through my work, I invite the viewer to look deeper, feel honestly, and rediscover their own inner strength.
