Alaan Shama is a British contemporary visual artist whose work explores the intersection of expression, colour and emotion. Drawing out from various different sources of insight from the natural world, human, animal experience, and cultural storytelling that helped shape his artwork. His paintings often include bold expression with symbolic imagery, exploring themes of freedom, identify and connection among humans and animals alike. from a young age, Alaan developed a fascination with capturing movement and energy through line and form. over the years, his projects include sketching, painting and sculpturing human portraits, animals, architecture landscapes, complex and deep-rooted characters.

My creative practices explore identify, resilience and belonging through symbolic figurative and narrative imagery. using bold colour, defined line work and simplified forms, I create compositions that functions as visual metaphors with a mixture of truth and storytelling. Archetypal figures, emotion landscapes and recurring symbols allow the work to speak the universal human experience whilst maintaining a personal language. My work priorities emotional clarity and psychological presence of lone figures, a rooted spiritual tree or a quiet reflection of inner strength, harmony and continuity.
