Elizabeth Wood is an artist based in West Vancouver, British Columbia. Working primarily in photomontage, she uses the medium’s expressive potential to portray nuanced psychological states. Her practice centres on making the private, interior world visible, with the aim of fostering empathy and shared understanding.
Wood studied visual art at Emily Carr University of Art and Design and participated in the Visual Arts Program at Simon Fraser University. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Vancouver, CA; Nagoya, Japan; Los Angeles, USA; Gimpo-si, South Korea; St. Petersburg, Russia; Berlin, Germany; and Naples, Italy.
My work investigates the inner, often unspoken narratives that shape our shared human experience—vulnerability, loss, resilience, and hope. I am particularly drawn to the notion of a private self, where thoughts and emotions shift like weather systems, frequently at odds with the composed public persona we offer the world.
The tension between these two selves has been a lifelong point of inquiry for me. Through my art, I explore this complex divide as a means of understanding, recognition, and connection. My practice is both a personal investigation and an invitation for viewers to reflect on their own inner landscapes.
