Mariola Wroblewski Askformonkey

I do not like to speak too much about myself. I prefer to let my work tell its own stories.

Although art was always present in my family, my own artistic journey unfolded slowly. Professionally, my path first led me into science: I studied Scientific Information and worked primarily in a scientific environment. Yet from childhood onward, I grew up surrounded by creativity—the scent of paint, the language of color, and the quiet presence of design were always part of my world.

Only later in life, after moving to Mallorca, did painting become an intense and essential part of my existence. In 2021, my artistic journey truly began. Today, my work reflects a life shaped by movement between cultures and places. Influences from Polish, German, Spanish, and Arabic traditions resonate throughout my paintings, creating a visual dialogue between different identities, histories, and emotions.

Between cultures, between light sources in Dubai, Düsseldorf, and Mallorca, thousands of images have accumulated in my mind. Now, I am trying to bring them all onto the canvas.

My work is not driven by fixed techniques or predefined concepts. Each piece arises spontaneously, often triggered by an emotional experience or personal moment. The choice of technique follows the feeling: acrylic pouring, mixed media, the use of natural elements such as leaves or sand, fluid gold or gold leaf, or the direct, physical movement of a spatula. Emotion determines the medium.

Acrylic pouring combined with gold currently plays a central role in my practice, symbolizing both fragility and strength, chaos and harmony. I seek to create a relationship between my work and the viewer—one that reaches beyond the visual and touches the psyche and the heart. My paintings are meant to be felt rather than explained.

Through emotional expressiveness and technical sensitivity, my work builds bridges between inner experience and outer perception. It is within this space that my art has found international resonance.
