Bela Riera (pseudonym) was born in 1962 with a psychosomatic trauma that he would not overcome until the age of 32. Already as a child, he demonstrated his fondness for drawing and painting, daubing walls, shoe boxes in the family store, and wrapping paper.

He becomes lame at age 11 after being hit by a car, which made him more introverted and less interested in sports. At 16, unable to cope with his attraction to other boys, he attempted suicide. Against his family's wishes, he began his studies in Fine Arts at 21, while simultaneously pursuing a career in logistics.

At 25, he suffered a car accident, severely damaging his face. He recovered his facial features after multiple cosmetic surgeries. He then discovers that he was HIV positive and decides to live a life as normal as possible. He marries and divorces twice. After a lifetime of research in photography and painting, he finally focuses on painting at the age of 60, launching his works into the complicated art market.

"Art for art's sake" was Bela´s motivation for painting from the very beginning. And after exploring realism, photography, image manipulation programs, and avoiding messages of denunciation, political temptation, and the morbidity of frustration, it was time to map a new world, capture the landscapes of emotions, the mental spaces, the celebration of life itself... Painting in essence... traumas overcome and feelings revealed.
